"Bayadere" Cabin Restoration - Sparkman & Stephens Classic Sailing Yacht
In 2013, Stefan was once again called back to Virginia to work on "Bayadere" a Sparkman & Stephens classic sailing yacht. This time the boat required some serious repairs to its cabin structure, as she was experiencing some leaking. Most of the cabin was in fine shape and Stefan decided to lay a mahogany veneer on the cabin sides after replacing some of the rotted sections. He also went on to replace the combings and re-install the winch blocks which he had constructed on a previous visit.
Removal & Repair of Damaged Sections:
The combings and winch blocks were removed and work was begun on removal of the rotted wood and a small section of the aft Starboard section of the cabin side.
Applying the New Cabin Sides:
To reduce any leaking that was occurring where the cabin met the deck, Stefan added a 45 degree joint that the new cabin walls could butt against. The new cabin walls were then epoxied to the old cabin structure.
